World’s largest nuclear facility could be built in Ontario with new $300M deal 07.05.2026

Ontario has entered into a $300 million cost-sharing agreement between the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and Bruce Power to advance the construction of a new nuclear generating station, dubbed Bruce C, at the Bruce Power site in Kincardine. This agreement marks a significant step towards establishing the Bruce site as the world's largest nuclear facility and Ontario's first large-scale nuclear project in over three decades. The funding will support pre-construction activities, including site preparation and community engagement, with preparatory work anticipated to conclude by 2030. The proposed 4,800 megawatt (MW) station aims to supply power to 4.8 million homes and is projected to create substantial long-term employment and economic benefits, though it still requires federal approvals.
