George Simion, leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), stated that he would no longer propose Călin Georgescu for the position of Prime Minister, despite the fact that the former presidential candidate was the party's official proposal for the Palace of Victoria in the past. In an interview with Mediafax, Simion was asked whether he would support Georgescu's appointment as Prime Minister if AUR were to receive the mandate from President Nicușor Dan. His response was firm: "No. Călin Georgescu must be President, not Prime Minister. The people voted for him to be President."
