Zanzibar rival parties sign reconciliation accord in unity push 07.07.2026

On Thursday, July 9, Zanzibar is scheduled to host a significant political milestone as President Hussein Ali Mwinyi and ACT-Wazalendo national chairman Othman Masoud sign a joint reconciliation accord. This historic agreement aims to foster political tolerance, strengthen unity, and ensure lasting peace within the Isles. The ceremony will involve senior government officials, religious leaders, security chiefs, and civil society representatives to promote a stable and inclusive political environment. According to a statement from the Directorate of Presidential Communications, the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and ACT-Wazalendo are committed to enhancing political dialogue through a specific implementation roadmap. This roadmap contains key resolutions designed to guide the execution of the accord. The event, which will be broadcast live across television, radio, and digital platforms, seeks to consolidate social cohesion and safeguard stability throughout Zanzibar.
