Zinsen nur gegen Treue: Sparkassen und VR-Banken bauen ihre Sparkonten um 19.02.2026

German regional banks, including Sparkassen and VR-Banken, are shifting their interest rate strategies, prioritizing longer-term deposits over flexible options like Tagesgeld. An analysis by biallo.de reveals that while Tagesgeld accounts now offer minimal returns, averaging 0.41% for Sparkassen and 0.46% for VR-Banken, fixed-term savings accounts and Sparbriefe are providing competitive interest rates, sometimes exceeding 3.00% for longer durations. Some Sparkassen, like Stadtsparkasse München, are introducing "Spartöpfe" (digital sub-accounts) for specific savings goals instead of focusing on interest for Tagesgeld. In contrast, longer-term fixed deposits at regional banks, such as Kreissparkasse Waiblingen offering 3.25% over 10 years, are outperforming many national and international competitors, indicating a strategic move to secure customer loyalty through extended financial commitments.
