Zoltán Guller dismissed from two positions within a week 03.07.2026

Zoltán Guller has been removed from two important positions within a single week. On Tuesday, Finance Minister András Kármán dismissed him from his post as CEO of Szerencsejáték Zrt. On Friday evening, Economy Minister István Kapitány also recalled him from his position as Chairman of the Board and board member of the Hungarian Tourism Agency Zrt. (MTÜ). Previously, between 2016 and 2022, Guller served as the CEO of MTÜ and subsequently became Chairman of the Board, a position he retained even after his appointment at Szerencsejáték Zrt. The MTÜ is traditionally considered to be within the sphere of influence of Ráhel Orbán, with whom Guller collaborated on developing the country's image in 2018. Under his leadership, entrepreneurs close to NER (National System of Coordinated Interests) received significant tourism subsidies, including hundreds of millions of forints secretly allocated under the Kisfaludy Program; it has emerged that Guller was the sole decision-maker rather than a professional committee. Guller wielded significant influence, serving among other roles as CEO of Digitális Magyarország Ügynökség Zrt. and holding positions on the boards of Vodafone and Budapest Airport. Last year, István Tiborcz, the husband of Ráhel Orbán, and Sára, the daughter of Viktor Orbán, purchased one of Guller's properties in Hűvösvölgy.
